As a little diversion from my more "serious" modelling, I always fancied putting together a small pizza style layout. With an upcoming exhibition debut for my North Winterton layout, I was worried that a small shunting might not be enough to provide enough entertainment to the paying public, so decided a pizza layout to provide additional variety might be a good idea. A few weeks later and Evisnoe Falls, built to 009 scale, was the result.
The layout is constructed on a pair of 14" cake boards, with scenery built up from balsa wood, polystyrene blocks and lightweight filler. The tunnel mouth and overbridge bounding the hidden area were constructed from suitable plasticard sheets. The halt building and cafe are standard Wills kits, the cafe tables are from Metcalfe Models. The circle of track is 35-year old Eggerbahn, from my first 009 train set! A simple circuit from Heathcote Electronics halts the trains for a few seconds out of sight behind the backscene to alleviate the tail-chasing effect of such a small circle of track.
